Members are the Best Missionaries!

Hello y'all,

We had zone conference on Wednesday. Elder and Sister Stanfill came and spoke to us. They talked about swallowing up our will and aligning to God's will as well as, love God and everyone we meet.

We received a Book of Mormon referral so we went to talk to the referral. It was a very interesting conversation. Everything we shared with him he disagreed with. It was almost like he just wanted to meet with us so he could argue with us. The member with us was getting a little scared with how the conversation was going. In that moment I had no clue what to say. All I could do in that moment was to pray that Sister Sharp and I could figure out what to teach. We taught about the Restoration and then invited him to read the Book of Mormon. He seem to calm down and took the Book of Mormon. We'll see what happens.

After sacrament meeting on Sunday Sister Sharp and I were talking to a recent convert and his daughter. He told us that his daughter maybe wants to be baptized. I was like wait what... I had no clue. He was like yeah but doesn't she have to take classes. Sister Sharp and I set an appointment with her for later that day to have a lesson with her. It was amazing. During the lesson the recent convert kept saying how much of difference the gospel has made in his life and how it as also helped change his daughters life. Ward members are the best missionaries ever!

Sisters or Nuns?

On Tuesday on our way to our appointment we started talking to a man that was walking. He asked for a wife and we told him we couldn't give that to him. We said we could give him the Book of Mormon. So we gave him a Book of Mormon and then he asked for the agencies number. We told him that there was no agency number, that it's a church. We gave him the church's website. It was very interesting haha.

Later that day we had a lesson and we taught the plan of salvation. Oh my goodness...every single time we teach the plan of salvation my love for the gospel increases. Seeing the joy and happiness I see in others when you tell them they can be with their family forever is the best. The person we were teaching started to cry, he told us he knew he would see his dad again. I was almost in tears. The spirit was so strong.

Friday night we went to Wendy's for dinner and right when we were about to leave an older lady started to talk to us. We invited her to sit by us and to talk. We got to know her more and had a very interesting conversation. She was a hoot. She asked us what our names were and we said "Sister Ogden and Sister Sharp" she said "Oh are you guys Nuns?" We were like no we are missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I had never been asked that; it was pretty funny. Before we left we invited her to church, hopefully she comes.

Yesterday we were walking out of an appointment and then all of a sudden we see a man walking with a boombox with a microphone singing to the radio. It seriously made my day. Anyways not too much else happened.

Hope y'all have an amazing week!

Past Referral turns Golden

What a week...

Monday we got a call from a member in a different ward and they gave us a referral. The referral had met with missionaries before in the past. Tuesday we went and stopped by the referral and talked with him. The first thing he said to us was "I want to go to church, but I don't have a ride." It was seriously amazing. We told him we would find him a ride and then we set up a lesson for Friday. On Friday we taught him about the Restoration. After the lesson both Sister Sharp and I had the feeling that we should ask him if he wanted to be baptized? He said yes! He said he wanted to pray more about his decision, but the spirit was so strong it was amazing. The next day he called to let us know he got an answer to his prayer and wants to be baptized. We have set a date for him to baptized. It was seriously the most incredible experience ever. The Lord works in such astonishing ways and puts you where you need to be at the right time.

This past week the Raleigh North Carolina temple was rededicated by President M. Russell Ballard. On Saturday we had a mission wide conference and President M. Russell Ballard came and spoke to us. It was seriously incredible. I'm so grateful for prophets and apostles. My testimony of them has grown so much lately.

"Witnessed a Baptism"

Wow is all I can say for this past week. First transfer done and it has been the hardest, craziest, happiest and best weeks ever.

Matthew got baptized. Oh my goodness it was such an amazing day. The gospel of Jesus Christ truly does change people's lives and brings joy. Sister Sharp and I got to be witnesses with the new policy change. It was such a testimony strengthening moment that this is the true church.

General conference was amazing. Everything that was said was what I needed to hear and answers to my questions. One of my favorite things said was when Elder D. Todd Christofferson quoted President Russell M. Nelson when he said "Joy is not based on our circumstances but based on the focus of our lives. Joy comes from the plan of salvation... and when the gospel of Jesus Christ is the center of our lives." This is so true. I have seen that with so many people that I have met. As well as how much joy the gospel brings to people's lives.

I also loved when Presidnt M. Russell Ballard said "we are sons and daughters of God with eternal possibilities." That reminder of who we are and that nothing is impossible with God and Jesus Christ by our sides was exactly what I needed to hear in that moment. So so grateful for conference!

"Darn it"

Not much has happened this week it's been pretty much consumed with the temple open house again. Sadly it ended Saturday. It was such an amazing experience to be able to help. It was so much fun to meet so many people from everywhere. Everyday I was there the spirit was so strong and it was incredible.

We had stake conference on Sunday. Elder Beheshti was there and spoke. One thing I loved that he said was "repentance paves the way for personal revelation." As we repent we are able to be more in tune with the Spirit to receive personal revelation.

Funny story: last Saturday we helped a family in the ward pack. The next day we got a text from them saying: "Well, we have a little Sister Ogden on our hands, our daughter keeps saying 'darn it' all morning."
